Writing has been a passion since my public school days. Like many youth I first wrote poetry. My first publications were travelogues from Mexico sent to theSaanich Star, a community newspaper in Victoria in 1968. We were there for the Summer Olympics and after the games I had a short contract with the IOC as a proof-reader of the official results in English.
As a grad student in in 1979 my faculty adviser, Dr. Art Kratzmann, hired me to research and draft an educational manual for which he had a contract, Recruitment and Selection of Senior School District Administrative Personnel. I was humbled and elated when he gave me senior authorship. When back at university in the mid 1980s I served as Assistant Editor with an academic journal, Practical Approaches to Developmental Handicap. I was guest editor for a special issue on Prader-Willi syndrome. Five years after graduation the product of my dissertation was published as Prader-Willi Syndrome: Home, School & Community, with Dr. Roy I. Brown, resulting in further opportunities for articles and speaking. My other focus at this time was writing on professional education topics. After retirement, my professional writing waned and I became more interested in local history and biography. I still have a passion for writing. Stay tuned.
